This post covers the topic around Amazon Premium A+ content on Seller Central. Seller Central A+ Content Manager pages started displaying the notification that Premium A+ content has started to launch for Seller Central accounts. This is important for Amazon sellers as Premium A+ content was previously reserved exclusively for large Amazon Vendors that was invite only and at a great cost to Vendors. When Premium A+ content rolls out for sellers it will allow brands to to engage with customers on a deeper level with enhanced A+ content of product listings. Amazon customers benefit from this as well as they are able to learn more about the products and brands they purchase from by highlighting key product features previously unavailable on A+ content. This in turn will lead to more happy customers and increased sales for brands and manufacturers selling on Amazon. At the time of writing this post, the Premium A+ Content Manager is not active for all Amazon Seller Central accounts, and sellers should monitor updates from Amazon on the launch of this premium program. In this post we will dig deeper into the notification that showed up on the A+ Content Manager about Premium A+ content, requirements to get access to Premium A+ content, and features of Amazon Premium A+ Content.
Notification of Amazon Premium A+ Content in Seller Central
Here is the text that appeared on many Amazon sellers accounts. As we noted, it is not widely available at the moment but it would be wise to be proactive of the potential requirements for gaining access to the Amazon Premium A+ Content in Seller Central.
“Premium A+ is now launched on Seller Central. To get access to this feature, you will need to 1. Have A+ Brand Story published on all of your ASINs, and 2. Have over 15 A+ Content project submissions that have been approved within the past 12 months. We will grant access at the end of each month for those who meet eligibility criteria, where you will see a banner indicating you can create Premium A+ Content. You do not need to contact us for Access.”
Let’s dig into the requirements stated in the notification.
Requirements to Get Access to Amazon Premium A+ Content
Amazon Premium A+ Content is not available by default for every single Amazon Seller Central account. Let’s discuss the different requirements that are required in order to get access to Premium A+ Content, starting with how to have the ability to get A+ content.
Brand Registry - Before getting Amazon Premium A+ Content, sellers must first have a professional selling account and enroll their brand in Amazon Brand Registry. This requires the seller to have a pending or registered text or image-based trademark in the country where you wish to enroll; At least 1 image of the product or packaging that clearly shows your brand’s name, logo, or other distinguishing mark permanently affixed to the product; and a sample list of ASINs that show your brand’s products on Amazon. Amazon requests you to provide the top-selling ASINs for each product category where your brand is sold. Once approved with registering the brand, sellers will have the ability to make Enhanced Product Descriptions and A+ Brand Story content.
15 Enhanced Product Descriptions - One of the requirements is sellers must have content project submissions that have been approved within the past 12 months. It is not clear if sellers just need to resubmit A+ content that is older than 12 months or if that content is grandfathered in for counting as the 15 within the past 12 months. Either way it is in sellers best interest to create A+ content on Amazon listings.
A+ Amazon Brand Story on all ASINs - The Amazon Brand Story is a carousel display with pre-formatted cards that links to other products and the Amazon brand store. This must be active on all ASINs prior to access to Amazon Premium A+ Content.
Features of Amazon Premium A+ Content
Amazon Premium A+ Content provides greater options than the current enhanced product description A+ content. Premium A+ Content creates an even further visually appealing experience for Amazon customers. Premium A+ Content upgrades to 7 modules (up from the basic 5), allows for video capability, larger images, and interactive modules. Here is a breakdown of some of those features:
Larger images - Sellers are able to include content up to 1464px wide, a much wider experience than basic enhanced product descriptions.
Video - Sellers can embed video into the A+ section in both a full width or video with text format. Video allows you to tell more about your brand and product by actually showing the product in use. It’s a great way to connect with customers.
Images with Hotspots - This allows sellers to click and interact with certain points on an image for a pop out of text. This is visually appealing as lots of information can be included on the image without it all appearing at once. Sellers can use this to call out specific aspects of value propositions of particular parts of their product.
Navigation Carousel - Customers can cycle through multiple images on a single carousel module. Sellers can share different types of images and information with this format.
Example of Amazon Premium A+ Content
Let’s look at a specific example of the Amazon Premium A+ Content in action with the Amazon Essentials Mens Loose-Fit Short-Sleeve Crewneck T-Shirt, Pack of 2 product listing. There are a few things that stand out with this Premium A+ Content:
Wide Images - The images on this A+ page extend much further than basic product listings. Paired with fun colors, and lifestyle imagery, the Premium A+ pages wide format really pops on the screen.
Embedded Video - This fun video of people wearing the clothing allows customers to see what the different products actually look like. We have all been there, particularly with clothing, where the product ordered doesn’t fit just right. Video allows a better visual to what a customer would be receiving.
Navigation Carousel - The image navigation carousel lets Amazon display the different featured options including the Disney X Amazon Essentials line, Women, Men, and Kids/Baby pages. This allows customers to see that they don’t just offer this one product but a line of different products.
Conclusion
We hope that the Amazon Premium A+ Content rolls out to more sellers soon. The added number of modules and styles of modules will allow sellers to sell more products by featuring images and videos on the product description. This will help Amazon customers connect and understand the value propositions, brand, and product they are purchasing.
